Automobile updates 2012- Nissan reports 'impressive' sales in April

CHENNAI: Driven by "overwhleming response" to its latest sedan "Sunny", Japanese-automaker Nissan Motor today reported "impressive" sales in April at 3,467 units.

The growth in sales was largely driven by "Sunny" which accounted for 2,012 units in April. It sold 1,435 units of hatchback Micra during the month, Nissan said in a statement.The remaining sales were contributed from its SUV X-Trail, premium sedan Teana and sports car 370Z, it said.

Since the launch of Sunny in September 2011, the company had sold 16,173 units, the statement said.

"Our sales in April have been very impressive and reflect customer trust and confidence in our products.", Nissan Motor India, Managing Director, Ishida Takayuki said.

"The Nissan Sunny has received an overwhelming response from the market and we are confident that we will continue to excel this year", he added.
